James (Jim) Earl Milburn, 86, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2022 in Cape Canaveral. Jim is lovingly remembered by many people, including his sons and their families, his wife Sara, and her family that became his in their 31 years together. He has enriched each of us with his presence, his guidance and support, and his companionship.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Hazel, and by his beloved namesake, James Earl Milburn, Jr., and cherished stepdaughter, Julie Ingram.
He is survived by James Earl Jr.'s daughter, Christina Hollandsworth, husband Joshua, and grandchildren Gabriella and Joshua; by his son David, partner Elisa Smith, and grandchildren Crystal Moore and David Milburn, Jr.; and by his son Paul, wife Kelly, and grandchildren Thomas (wife Alison and great-grandchild Timothy) and Alexander (wife Angie and great-grandchildren Isabella and Ethan).
Jim is also tenderly remembered by his wife, Sara Milburn, and her family, who were part of his everyday life for 31 years - sons, Don and Darrell; children-in-law Mary Ann, Jane, and Joey; grandchildren Shannon, Christopher, Laura, Lisa, Sarah, and Mel; and great-grandchildren Kyle, Connor, Christopher, Coy, and Pearl.
Jim was like the Energizer bunny, always working both his brain and body. From a humble background but with raw intelligence, he counts among his accolades a UF Engineering degree, tenure in the Air Force, a successful pawn store Gold Coast, and a storied real estate investing career. Jim also liked puzzles, brain teasers, and beating people at golf and bowling, when he wasn't cheering on the Florida Gators or repainting one of his properties with his son David, or selling them with his stepdaughter, Julie. His favorite sweet treat, Snickers ice cream bars, had a special place in his heart, as did dogs, for whom he was always stashing treats in his pocket.
A generous, sociable family man, Jim's legacy casts wide and deep. His absence will be felt, but his presence remains in our hearts.
A visitation will be held at, and flowers can be sent to the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial , 5950 US1, Rockledge, FL, 32955, on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 10am, service at 11am, and reception to follow.
