John was born January 7, 1930 in St. Louis, MO to John William Dennis, Sr. and Irene M. Riley Dennis.
John was a veteran of the U. S. Marines and the U. S. Navy. John working for McDonald Douglas transferred to the Space Coast in 1962 with his family to work at Cape Canaveral. He later worked for Martin Marietta and Harris Government Systems in Central Florida. After his retirement he traveled around the country until returning to work again at the Cape with United Space Alliance. His last employment was with the Broward County Library.
John fell in Love with the Florida area from his time in the service. He would always return to the Space Coast which is where he wanted to be. John never did understand what the term” retirement” meant. He continued to look for any opportunity to meet people and enjoy his time with them. It didn’t matter if he sold turkey legs at the stadium, drove a shuttle for car dealerships, work the waste dumps after the hurricanes or volunteer at emergency assistance shelters. He could tell you some stories about the life and times on the Space Coast. If you asked him why he continued to work he would say “To support his bad habit of spending Money”. We all know better, John just loved to meet people.
John leaves behind his 3 children, John III, Stephen and Richard and 6 Step-children, George, Marilynn, Marcella, Margaret, Mark and Marjorie.
