

Joseph A. Caldiero, age 97 of Melbourne, FL entered into rest on Friday, April 18, 2020. Born in Brooklyn New York, he came to Brevard County in 1989 from Northport, New York. He worked for Getty Oil Company. Joseph was a decorated WWII Army veteran. He was also the recipient of the prestigious French National Order of the Legion of Honor Medal for his participation in the liberation of France during WWII. Joseph was a member of the VFW, and also an usher at St. John’s Catholic Church.
He was an avid train collector and always entertained his family with his numerous train sets and his loving stories of his childhood. He impacted everyone with his beautiful birdhouses that he hand crafted and sent all over the world. His stories of WWII were so captivating and everyone would gather around him to catch every word he said. He was beloved by family and friends alike and will be greatly missed by all.
He is predeceased by his wife Gloria Caldiero. Joseph is survived by his daughters, Claudia Krischik (Peter), Barbara Caldiero, and Laura Rivera (Robert); grandchildren, Jaime Krischik, Michael Krischik, Katelyn Clark, Jaclyn Toney, Eric Saenz, Robert Hazewood, and Leah Saenz; and great-grandchildren, Christian Toney, Madison Toney, Joseph Krischik, and Carlos Clark.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, St. John’s Catholic Church, or the charity of your choice.
There will be memorial mass at St. John’s Catholic Church at a later date following the pandemic.
