

She was born in Loogootee, IN on July 14, 1937. After moving to the Space Coast in 1966 she worked for NASA at Kennedy Space Center for over 30 years, initially working in clerical and advancing throughout the administration to Security Specialist. She also served our country in the Naval Reserves for an extended amount of time.
Lois will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and neighbor. She quietly and consistently gave to charitable causes and organizations throughout her life, helping those in need while leading her family by example in her life, her career and her Catholic faith. She was an extremely hard worker who wouldn’t shrink from a challenge. She will be greatly missed, but those who mourn her passing rejoice that she is reunited with her husband and family that went before her.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Dolah Lannan; husband, William (Bill) Downey; brothers Hube, Murl and Bernie Lannan; sisters, Ruth Ann Lannan and Millie Jones and granddaughter, Dawn Harding.
She is survived by daughter, Constance White; son, Ronald Bledsoe; step sons, Tony and Roger; step daughters, Melanie and Stacey; brothers, Norbert and Michael Lannan; sisters, Rita Weaver and Kay Hughes; granddaughter, Sacheen; great grandson, Mikah; nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, Rockledge. The service will be held directly after at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Boys Town, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Salvation Army.
