She was born to the late Henry and Bernice Kinney, May 30, 1936 in Whiteville, Tennessee. Marilyn graduated from Tennessee Prepatory School in 1954. She went on to work in Banking. Later in life after she retired from Banking, she received a certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant and provided Home Health Care to the Aging.
She married the late Robert E. Delaney in 1956, and they lived together as a military family in the Air Force for twenty-four years before retiring from PAFB, Satellite Beach, Florida in 1976, and relocating to their retirement home off of Lake Washington Road, Melbourne, Florida. Marilyn is survived by her youngest of two daughters, Darlene Delaney Wilkes, Michael Frank Wilkes (Son-In-Law), Jordan Kaitlynn Wilkes (Granddaughter), Christopher Robert Hart (Grandson), his Wife, Brittany Elizabeth Hart (Barker) and her two Great Grandsons: Brayden Robert Hart and Blake Russell Hart. She is also survived by her younger sister, Dahlia Jane Baker. Marilyn was predeceased by her loving husband, of Fifty-Four years of marriage in 2010; her First Born Daughter, Donna Lynn Delaney (Hart) in 2013; as well as seven of eight Brothers and Sisters.
Marilyn was a spunky country gal, known to her family and all who loved her as Ninny. She shared her excitement and zest for life with everyone around her. She loved to laugh, dance, and live life to the fullest. Ninny was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind many fun memories filled with lots of laughter. Although, over the years as a family we have shed some tears, we have also been so blessed that the laughter has drown out any tear filled times. As Ninny’s health declined, she would say:
"Life is like a lit candle, may my flame burn bright & long, and when it’s my time, let my flame flicker once, then go out”.
Due to the CDC restrictions there will be a GraveSide Burial only with immediate family, of no more than 10 family members will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2020, at 2p.m. at Florida Memorial Gardens. The family prefers that donations in support of breast cancer research be made, in lieu of sending flowers.
