Mary Ann Seiler, 86, of West Melbourne, passed away Thursday 10/19/17 at home. From Springfield, Illinois, she came to Melbourne in 1963.
Mary Ann was a lifetime educator, including 20 years as a teacher at Meadowlane Elementary in West Melbourne. Her friendships made there with students and colleagues continued for decades, including years of luncheons with the Retired Educators of South Brevard. She believed in the power of reading; never tiring of helping children lift themselves up.
Mary Ann was a faithful catholic and a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes in Melbourne, since the early 1960s.
Mary Ann & Skip were early members of the Melbourne Yacht Club, home to the family catamaran Mai Kai II. The boat, and the club, provided decades of sailing pleasure and friendships.
In their retirement Mary Ann & Skip enjoyed extensive traveling and visiting family across North America and beyond. This included several seasonal ‘working’ visits to Yellowstone National Park, a long visit to Alaska, and extended traveling through parts of Canada. Indeed with friends they cruised parts of Europe and the Caribbean.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 57 years: Norman ‘Skip’ Seiler; 4 children – Ann Paine, Susan Wrzesinski, Jessica Sibayan and Peter Seiler; 7 grandchildren (Cale & Cierra Paine, Samantha Farless, Mick, Cecelio & Kima Sibayan, Hannah Seiler); And 2 sisters – Sally Morris & Elizabeth Lee.
A devoted mother, Mary Ann eternally enjoyed taking care of her children, grandchildren and her extended family. She is now at peace with her Momma, Daddy, and her sister Nancy again.
Wake and Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Melbourne, Saturday October 28, 10am & 11am.
