He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Nichols; his children, Benjamin Nichols (Erica) and Kristin Annis (Alexander); and his grandchildren , Evelyn Annis (7) and Caden Nichols (8mo).
Michael was born in Princeton, IL and moved to Florida in 1978. His career in sales and business development took him all over the world, and he took great pride in providing for his family, seeing his children and then later his grandchildren thrive and succeed. He saw the best in everyone he knew and always loved being in the company of others. In his younger years he enjoyed flying, boating, fishing, motorsports, and spending time outdoors. He was an engineer at heart and would happily tackle anything that required learning and tinkering. He also enjoyed teaching and mentoring, especially with a local high school robotics team. In retirement, he was happiest contentedly relaxing at home in the warm Florida weather with a friend, a cigar, and a scotch.
No formal services are planned at this time. Friends who know the family are welcome to visit at home with advance notice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation, whose Joe’s Club program provided Mike with compassionate care and support during the course of his illness.
He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
