Nancy Mary Waters

Cape Canaveral Hospital. Nancy was born in Utica, New York on February 14, 1945, to

Leo and Veronica Dukette.

Nancy moved to Florida in 1974 as a winter storm transfer. Working for a pharmaceutical Company until 1982 when she was hired as a Data Input Operator for EG&G at the Kennedy Space Center. Nancy was promoted to a lead shop scheduler position in 1984 where she met the love of her life, Joel Glenn Waters. They had a wonderful life together raising a blended family. Nancy and Joel recently enjoyed their 30th wedding anniversary back in Las Vegas where they were married on August 15, 1995, at the Little

White Wedding Chapel.

Nancy was a cancer survivor that provided early support visits to first time cancer patients for almost 5 years until she had a second recurrence with cancer and was no longer able to continue the visits. Working with the American Cancer Society (ACS), Nancy became a driver taking cancer patients to their chemo treatments and doctor visits. After a third recurrence with cancer, Nancy’s vision was impacted by treatments and had to end her support to ACS.

Nancy and Joel moved from Wedge Field in E. Orlando to Oleander Point in 2010. Nancy enjoyed walking to shops and eateries in Cocoa Village.

Nancy joined the landscape committee at Oleander Point. Her love for flowers steered her to maintain the Riverside Drive planter box and flower plants at the pool. Nancy became known as the Garden Goddess. Unfortunately, for the last few years Nancy’s ability to tend to the flowers had diminished due to her health.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Joan and Barbra; one brother, Brian; and her stepson, Mitchell.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Joel; one son, Joseph; four stepdaughters, Sherry, Michelle, Katie, and Lindsey; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 12:00pm at The Life Event Center at Florida Memorial 5950 S US Highway 1 Rockledge, FL 32955. With a Celebration of Life service by Pastor Karren Hirshmiller at 1:00pm. After the Service, a catered reception will be held at Oleander Point 102 Riverside Dr, Cocoa FL 32922 in the Brevard Room.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Florida Memorial, and the Life Event Center.
