Norma Jean Sweat, age 93, passed away Monday, July 23, 2018 peacefully at the William Childs Hospice house with loving family by her side. She was born and raised April 8th, 1925 and raised in the small town of Kensett, IA with 7 siblings; her mother as a school teacher and her father a blacksmith.
Directly after high school, Jean moved to Washington D.C. to work for the FBI during WWII. She met a young sailor named James C. Sweat, that became the love of her life. They married in 1944 and had 3 children – James C. Jr., Gary and Wendy.
Norma is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, James C. Sweat. She is survived by her sons, James C. Sweat, Jr. (Susan) and Gary Sweat (Linda) and daughter, Wendy Sweat; grandchildren, Robert, Alecia, Zackery; great grandson, Cyrus; sister, Esther Asbe Peterson and brother, Robert Dean Asbe.
Jean was a loving mother and wife. She was a home maker and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She was actively involved in her church and volunteered for many years.
A Memorial Service will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church in Indian Harbor Beach, FL at 4:00pm on Saturday July 28, 2018
