Phyllis Clendenin passed away in Melbourne, Florida, at the age of 86, on October 31,2024. The love of her life, Clarence Clendenin, welcomed her to heaven with open arms. Phyllis was welcomed to the world in Turtle Creek, WV on August 14, 1938, by Blanche and Lowell Miller, and her three brothers. As the only girl, she may have been slightly spoiled! Phyllis moved to Melbourne in 1962. She loved her family, her neighbors, and her community. In her early years, you may have seen her smiling face at the Dandee Bread Store, Meehan's office supply, and helping to organize the phone book deliveries, she was an avid crafter, making beautiful floral arrangements and Christmas wreaths and traveling around the state of Florida doing craft shows. She was a Girl Scout leader, Grey Lady, and a keeper of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and granddogs. She loved to visit her family, and casinos and go on cruises. She loved to learn new things from card games to cake decorating, candy making, and playing Bunco. She was in the same Bunco group for 57 years.
Phyllis was survived by many loving family members who will miss her dearly, especially around the holidays, as she made us all feel special. She started a tradition when her first grandchild was born, she sent them a present a day to open the month of December, and she continued this tradition to this day with her great-grandchildren. I'm sure she would have continued with her newest great-great-grandbaby who was born earlier this year. She was the grandmother who showed up to every game, and school show, clapping the loudest in the room. She sure made everyone feel loved.
The memorial service will be held at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial at 10 AM on Monday, November 4th. Viewing begins at 9:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, Phyllis requested a donation to be made to St Jude Children's Foundation at stjude.org.
