Proceeded in death by his wife, Eileen Cummings; parents Ollie Cummings and Lois Cantrell; and sister Garyann Fitzgerald. Survived by his son, Robert Cummings; daughter-in-law Dawn Cummings. Porter was born in Tullahoma, Tennessee. He traveled the world while in the USAF, and finally moved to Florida in 1981. He was an avid Ham radio operator, enjoyed metal detecting, fishing, and plinking targets.
Porter had a degree in digital electronics, worked as a radar technician in the Air Force for 23 year, and retired honorably in 1984. He then worked for Computer Sciences Corporation at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station for 18 years.
Porter was a quiet man that avoided attention. He requested a direct burial without services. His son Robert, and daughter-in-law Dawn, were in attendance. He was buried October 13, 2022, at the Florida Memorial Gardens cemetery in Rockledge, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project would be greatly appreciated.
