Richard graduated from Grafton Senior High in 1947 and went on to attend West Virginia University in Morgantown. Richard was a combat veteran after serving his country in the United States Army . He used the skills he learned in the Army to make a career as a diesel truck mechanic. He was a hardworking man that even after retirement worked various jobs until he was 82 years old. He enjoyed NASCAR, boating, and spending time with his family.
Richard left behind his wife Elda of 62 years; three children; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was a gentle, kind, loving man that will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 1:00 pm Friday December 20th, 2013 at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial in Rockledge, Florida, with a Service beginning at 1:00 pm.
There will be a reception, as well. The family requests that each guest bring one Christmas ornament. Flowers accepted or donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
