Rita J. Coyle (Nana) passed in peaceful sleep on December 27th, 2020. She was met at the gates of heaven by our Lord Jesus, her loving husband Charlie, her son Jack, grandson Zachary, and a wonderful host of family that went before her.
Rita married her husband Charlie on May 14, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1960, Rita, Charlie and six children moved from St. Louis, MO to Merritt Island, FL. Everyone survived that road trip in a station wagon with six kids and no seat belts! The seventh child (Tom) was born in Florida.
The loving mother of seven children, she is predeceased by her son, John Coyle (Mary) and grandson, Zachary Coyle. She is survived by and will be terribly missed by her sons Frank Coyle (Cathy) , Edward Coyle (Patti), Tom Coyle (Bobbie), daughters Mary Turner (Billy), Eileen Smith, and Ann Thrapp (Eric), thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Nana’s light will be kept alive by all that survived her, and the love and traditions of this great Matriarch will be carried on forever.
Rita will always be remembered for her faith and kindness. She was a loving mother, best friend and confidant to her children, and a patient and giving Nana to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also “Mom” and “Nana” to so many other people. It was well known that you could not get out of her house without a hug or something to eat, whether you were family or not. It is difficult to count the number of lives and people this loving soul had an impact on over her 93 years of earth.
A funeral Mass in Celebration of her life will be held for family at Divine Mercy Catholic Church on January 30, 2021 and Rita will be laid to rest next to her husband Charlie at Florida Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers , donations may be made to Divine Mercy Catholic Church, as Rita was a founding member.
** The mass will be lived streamed at 11:00 a.m. for those who wish to attend virtually. It can be viewed at divinmercychurch.org. It can also be watched on Facebook and YouTube. Search for Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Merritt Island.
