As I was attending the service for Robert Earl which is what I always called him, I forgot to express how he affected my life. There are a few men in my life growing up influenced my decisions in life.  Two of them grew up together as teenagers, Thornton (Scotty) McCrae and Robert Earl! I will always be grateful for their mentoring helping me achieve my goals! 

Sending my sincerest condolences to the family and the entire Buffkin team. I met Mr. Buffkin in 1994 when building my first house and 28 years later I’m still building and I’m still a customer. I returned over and over because of his authentic hometown kindness. He never makes you feel like he doesn’t have time for you, no matter what the situation or question. It’s a special quality that I will miss. 

So sorry for the loss of Mr. Buffkin.  He was a stable in the community and I had dealt with his company on occasion.  He was a fellow member of the Dixie Cruisers and I had just been admiring his gorgeous candy apple red '57 Chevy at the Brittany's Wish charity car show.  My fondest memory was when I went to see about the purchase of one of his antique cars.  He drove to show me the workings as we traveled down the winding driveway to the main road.  When we arrived at the main road he began frantically pumping the brakes as we drifted into traffic on the main highway.  But, his expert driving saved the day and both of our lives as he maneuvered the car to a place where he could downshift and turn around to head back.  He discovered there was no brake fluid.  Scary day, but such a nice man and so apologetic, but what an adventure!

I came to know Robert through my husband Burl.  Robert was always so kind to us and I will remember his laughter and smile always.  May his family know that he is ok, as we now suffer.  God Bless

I have known Robert Earl my whole life! My dad Harvey Cooper and Robert were friends growing up as teenagers.  When my dad would come down to visit his grandson, that’s just how grandfathers are we would go visit  Robert and I loved hearing them tell me their escapades  growing up.  And when I would need tile or whatever I would go see Robert and ever time he saw me a big smile came across his face and I knew that was his way of showing his love! He would tell me stories about me sitting on his knee and my brother using me to get extra money for collecting bottles as kids because I had to wear braces for 2 years to correct my pigeon toe condition!  I have been crying the whole time writing this as memories are flooding my thoughts.  And my greatest regret is it’s always” I need to stop in and catch up with Robert” and I hadn’t in quite awhile.  Robert, say hello to Chris for me and till we meet again my friend, try to stay out of trouble hanging out with my dad! 

He was a good man , very hard working I worked for him for several years off and on , you always knew where you stood with Robert he was always at the shop early and seems like every time we got back from a job he would appear out of nowhere lol . He will be missed for sure .

Robert Earl was a man among men, the kind they just don't make anymore, a dying breed. He was so hard working he truly went from rags to riches in his life time. I loved to talk with him his slow southern draw not a lot of words spoken but a lot of meaning in them. He always made me laugh. When I think of him I see him in a button up plaid shirt sleeves cuffed, blue jeans falling off his butt those also cuffed, shirt tucked in and hair combed back and his voice saying "Deborah..........."
I will surely miss him along with this rest of this community he is irreplaceable
