Robert De Cort

Robert De Cort, age 89 of Merritt Island, Florida passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017. He was a Born in Antwerp, Belgium, November 16, 1927 and was a retired locksmith for Pan American Airways.

Bob immigrated to the Unites States with his wife Amelia (Lily) in the mid-1950s from Antwerp, Belgium to live the American Dream. He & Lily created their family on a foundation of unconditional love, hard work and optimism. He became a locksmith at Pan American, which allowed them to travel back to Belgium frequently, and fortified their heritage within their children; Bob, Thierry and Gwendolyn. He and Lily retired to Florida in the late 1980s, enjoying many wonderful hours with Gwendolyn and her family on Merritt Island and traveling frequently to visit their son’s and their families.

Survivors: Son Robert De Cort & daughter-in-law Annemarie of San Diego, California; Son Thierry De Cort and daughter-in-law Tanja Chamblee of Covington, Louisiana; Daughter Gwendolyn Anello and son-in-law Michael of Merritt Island, Florida. Grandchildren Megan Kelly & Husband Rob; Thierry De Cort jr. and wife Jessica; Robert De Cort jr.; Marco Anello and Amelia Anello. Great Grandchildren Coralie & Anastasia De Cort and Charles and Grace Kelly.

A short graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 25 at Florida Memorial Gardens, and a reception luncheon will follow at noon at The Pizza Gallery & Grill at the Avenues Viera.
