

Robert Joseph Gertz, Sr, age 76 of Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on December 16, 2025. He was born on April 14,1949 in Memphis, Tennessee, to William Robert Gertz and Mary Jane Gertz.
He attended Westside High School and later enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served his country for 22 years before retiring from the United States Navy. His service was marked by dedication, honor, and commitment to his fellow servicemen and women.
Robert was married to Jessie in 1971, and together they had three children, Teresa, Jennifer and Robert. He is survived by his loving wife; his three children; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers.
He was a man of strong Christian faith, which guided his life and shaped the way he loved, served, and cared for others. He deeply loved his family, the Tennessee Volunteers, and bald eagles. He will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, corny jokes, the familiar habit of twiddling his thumbs, and the Donald Duck voice he loved to perform for his grandchildren, which brought them endless laughter.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on December 26, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, with burial immediately following. Military honors will be rendered in recognition of his faithful service to the United States Navy.
