

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Dolores, of 59 years; his loving sons Robert, Jr. (Rebecca) and Rick Thomas. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren, Anthony Cross-Thomas, Cayman and Syd Thomas, and his younger brother, Raymond Thomas (Madeline). He had many adored nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Lena Thomas, brothers, John, George, Jimmy, Francis and sister, Flora Thomas.
Bob was born on May 6, 1942, in Jersey City, New Jersey. He served in the United States Air Force at Patrick Air Force Base in Cocoa Beach, Florida during the Vietnam War in the field of Bioastronautics.
After his military service, he was employed by several contractors at Kennedy Space Center, retiring in 2008 from united Space Alliance as a Logistics Manager. His long career during the years of space exploration spanned the Gemini Program through the Space Shuttle. He had a wealth of knowledge that he eagerly shared with family, friends and acquaintances.
Bob so enjoyed interacting with the people in his community, especially good friends and neighbors. Having two sons, he coached the Rockledge Little League for many years and served as Vice President of the League. Some of his happiest days occurred when he’d meet up with one of his former ball players and they would say “Hi Coach Thomas, it’s me _____________." He created and served as President of RAMS (Rockledge Adult Mixed Softball League). Bob loved to work at the local Voting Precincts. His passion was Classic Cars.
Bob was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Rockledge for 55 years, and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #6125.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 11am. Burial will follow immediately at Florida Memorial Gardens, on US Highway 1, Rockledge, Florida. A reception will follow immediately after the burial at 1:30 p.m at The Rockledge Country Club 5119 Fiske Blvd., Rockledge, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Bob’s name to the PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer) charity.
