Roger was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity and humor and left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Roger was born in New York, New York to Robert and Elizabeth Byrne (McMahon). He is survived by his adoring wife Deborah; his daughters, Courtnay Murphy (Danny) and Sally Brooks (Brent); his grandchildren, Damian, Logan, Gabriel, Olivia, Owen; and his sister, Patricia Kizilay Smith, sister-in-law, Cherina DiCostanzo Byrne, sister-in-law, Paula Klein (Arnold), sister-in-law, Fern Jeremiah (Eugene), and brother-in-law Gary Loew (Annette). He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, James Byrne.
Roger was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy and served on the USS Purdy. After leaving the service, he had a long career in telecommunications achieving the position of Vice President - Sales and Operations in NEC America. He was an avid boater on Long Island and enjoyed spending mornings on the golf course. His career allowed him to travel to many places and make new friends wherever the journeys took him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SSG Alex Viola Foundation which supports fallen and wounded US Military Special Operations and their families.
A graveside service for Roger will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 1:30 PM at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US Highway 1 N, Mims, FL 32754.
