

Roger was born September 22, 1932 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island to Ovila and Beatrice Rondeau. He graduated from St. Francis High School in Maine in 1950 and the University of Central Florida In 1986.
Roger was a veteran of the United States Air Force. On February 14, 1955, Roger married Lucie Jacqueline Tousignant, his wife of 68 years. They lived in Merritt Island, Florida until 2005 when Roger and Lucie moved to Olathe, Kansas. While in Florida, Roger was employed at the Kennedy Space Center where he worked for General Dynamics and Lockhead Martin beginning in 1958. Being an early employee at the Space Center, Roger witnessed every major launch of the US space program and met many of our greatest space pioneers. He retired in 1994 as Chief.
Roger was a devoted family man, quiet and caring. After his retirement, he spent time with his family, took care of his home and doted over his grandchildren and his dogs. He also spent years delivering medicine to the sick. He was always ready to help those that needed it no matter the task. He was an active member of the Catholic Church at Divine Mercy in Merritt Island and St. Paul’s in Olathe.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughter, Jacqueline (Rodger) Smith of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, and his two grandsons, Dr. Taylor (fiancé, Marisa) Smith of Moorpark, California, and Chandler (Chelsea) Smith, of Eudora, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Roger Rondeau, and his parents.
Mass will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 3050 N Hwy A1A, Indialantic, FL 32903 on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 10:00 am. Interment with military honors will take place at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US-1, Mims, FL 32754 on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
