

Ronald “Ron” Wayne Chambers passed away on August 25, 2024. His wife, Betty, preceded him in death. He is survived by his children, Don (Donna), Steve (Debbie) and Ronda (Chris); grandchildren, Robbie (Katie), Patrick (Stephanie), Jesse (Connie), Jerrid (Michelle), Mitch (Christie), and Chase; great-grandchildren, Kelby, Peighton, Hannah, Julia, Colton, Haylee, and Cash; great-great-grandson, Waylon; and brother Hillary Jay Chambers
Ron was born October 26, 1932, in Lakeland, Florida. He attended school in the Tampa area, finishing high School at Alexander High School in Union Mills, North Carolina. On November 4, 1949, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He attended radar school in Biloxi, Mississippi and was stationed on Long Island, New York until the outbreak of the Korean War, in 1950. He volunteered for combat and was stationed at a radar installation in Komatsu, on the west coast of Japan in July 1950. In December 1952, he returned to the U.S., and was stationed at Rapid City, SD where he was discharged in 1953 with the rank of Staff Sergeant, having completed his enlistment.
He returned home to Miami, Florida and attended Central Baptist Church, where he met and married Betty Ann Garrison on November 4, 1955. They purchased their first home in Miami. Ron worked for Florida Power and Light Company while he pursued his studies in electronics, attending night school for five years. In 1961, they moved to Melbourne, Florida, where he worked as an electronics technician for several electronics firms. In 1966, he made a career change into Procurement and continued in this field with DBA and Harris Corp. He earned a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree from Barry University (GPA 4.0) and also passed the examinations for a C.P.M. (Certified Purchasing Manager) certification. Ron retired in December 2004, after sixteen years with Northrop-Grumman.
Ron was an avid sportsman, excelling in Bowling (300 game), Golf (Hole-in One), and Softball. In his retirement years, he taught softball techniques to children in the Palm Bay Youth Division. He was an assistant Golf Coach (Girls) at Eau Gallie High School for eleven years; and taught guitar to selected students.
Ron attended Central Baptist Church in Melbourne for twelve years, where he served as a volunteer Youth Director for most of those years. He also served as a Deacon. He also worked at St. Mark's Methodist Church, organizing and conducting two Children’s Choirs. Later, Ron performed with (and managed) the group Morning Star — a Prison Ministry band and vocal group of Tabernacle Church in Melbourne — for about ten years.
In retirement, Ron served as a VCOP with the City of Melbourne M.P.D. for ten years, retiring in 2016.
In 2019, he published his first book, "My Amazing Experiences with God," of which more than 10,000 books have been ordered. This was followed by his second book. "More Amazing Experiences with God," which to date has more than 7,000 books ordered.
Ron had a great impact on many people's lives and will be sorely missed by all.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Life Event Center at Florida Memorial followed by a celebration of life at 10:00 AM.
