

Shirley Anne Krentschman-Colberg, 79, of Melbourne, Florida passed away at her home August 21, 2011. Shirley was born on August 31, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York. She worked for The Home Insurance Company, Jamaica, Queens, NY until 1954, retiring after her daughter Susan was born.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Lynne Colberg of Melbourne, FL ; son, Paul William Colberg (Jodi) of Sebastian, FL; brother Kenneth Albert Kretschman (Sue) of Indian Harbor Beach, FL; sister-in-law, Grace Colberg of New Port Richie, FL; sister-in-law, Gloria Johnston-Schuck (Gus) of Islip Terrace, NY; daughter-in-law, Jeanie Colberg of Sebastian, FL; grandchildren, Daryl, Arielle and Ian Colberg (Children of Jeanie and Paul Colberg)of Sebastian, FL; niece, Nancy Ellen Colberg-Della Porte (Mark) of Blanton, FL; nephew, Robert Colberg of Lutz, FL; Niece, Deborah Jean Kretschman- Pestanio of Shirley, NY; nephew, Kenneth Scott Kretschman (Kim) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; great niece, Samantha Kretschman of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; niece, Laura Leigh Kretschman - Grue (Vince) of Centereach, NY; great –grandnephew, Nicholas Grue of Baldwin (Bob) of Hartford, CT; daughter of Jodi Colberg, Beth Reid (Scott);granddaughter of Jodi Colberg, Paige. Long time friends, Helen and Vinny Isoldi of Islip Terrace, NY; Art and Adelle Law of Vero Beach, FL; Rich and Trillby Farace of Melbourne, FL; John Anker and Nancey Haase of Clermont, FL; and last but not least Buffy the cat who misses her mommy.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, William Colberg; father, Albert Emil Kretschman; mother, Winniefred Helen Dowers Kretschman ; brother-in-law, Richard Colberg, father-in-law William Colberg ; mother-in-law, Alice Kalish-Colberg.
Our thanks to God our Father and to our Lord and Savior Jesus for the blessing of a peaceful passing. Our family also wishes to thank Vitas Hospice for the love and care extended to our mom prior to and after her passing. Hospice allowed our mom to come home and die in peace without fear, surrounded by her loved ones. Our family also thanks Dr. Glenn Slomin, who has been our family doctor for all these years here in Melbourne, for his excellent care. Our love goes out to my sister-in-law, Jeanie; my niece, Arielle;and my nephews, Darly and Ian for your love and support ; and our thanks for staying at the house to take care of Mom and for taking care of Buffy the cat while my brother Paul and I traveled to the Mayo Clinic with our mom. Thank you to our family for staying with us at the house in the days prior to our mom’s passing, thank you for your love and support and for your prayers. To my brother, Paul, thank you for being my “baby” brother, no one ever had a better brother.
My Brother, Paul and I want to thank our Uncle Ken for being there for his sister, our mom. I also want to thanks my sister -in- law, Jodi, for taking such good care of our mom in the days prior to her passing and helping Vitas Hospice nurses to care for her . To our extended family and friends, thank you for the phone calls, the flowers, and the outpouring of love and prayers on behalf of our mom, Shirley. I (Susan) also want to extend my thanks to Northrop Grumman to my fellow employees for their love and support during this most difficult time.
