Williams and Vivian Terrelonge in St. Catherine, Jamaica. Two years later, the family welcomed
her sister Sandra. Shirley attended private schools in Linstead and Kingston, Jamaica and had a
loving and happy childhood.
In 1974, Shirley and her sister Sandra emigrated to Mississauga, Canada to reside with her
brother Douglas Terrelonge. She attended the Westwood High School in Malton, Ontario,
where she met her future husband, Alburn Anthony “Tony” White. Love blossomed for the
young couple; they were blessed with their first son Mark in 1979 and lived with Tony’s mom
Linnie Lee-Chin in Bramalea.
Shirley worked in the office of the Purolator Transport Company for 8 years. While they were
living in an apartment in Brampton, their second son Michael was born in 1987.
In 1990, Tony and Shirley moved to Florida to join other members of the family and purchased
their first home in Miramar. After studying, she obtained a state license and became a loving
elder caregiver and was loved by her patients for the attentive care she provided. Shirley
attended the Living Word Open Bible Church in Hollywood, Florida. The church played a key
role in her life; she was baptized and gave generously towards the monetary support of the
church.
Shirley was and outstanding citizen in her community. After becoming aware of the plight of
the homeless in Overtown, Miami, her heart of gold and generosity led her to canvas
supermarkets to donate food supplies. She prepared meals and paired them with blankets,
clothing, and shoes. The grateful recipients would patiently line up, waiting rain or shine for
their angel to arrive.
In 2005, Shirley and Tony moved to Palm Bay, Florida where they purchased their second home
and attended the East Wind Church. Shirley was a pillar of strength as well as an inspiration to
her family. Her warm, infectious smile and pleasant personality touched the lives of everyone
who surrounded her. She was never too busy to lend a helping hand or an understanding ear,
particularly to the young members of the family.
Shirley enjoyed fishing in the Florida Keys and shopping for bargains and antiques. Her love of
travel resulted in many cruises and return visits to Canada and Jamaica. She was an avid
gardener and was well known for her exotic pepper sauces made with peppers from her
garden. Cooking was her special talent and she generously prepared special requests.
The Angels came to take her home when she lost her battle to cancer on the morning of
November 14, 2021. May God grant her eternal rest and may light perpetually shine on her.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, a devoted mother, and a beautiful and precious friend
to everyone who loved her.
