Stephen E. Bennett, 83, United States Air Force, retired, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Holmes Regional Medical Center. He was born in Dansville, NY and came to Brevard County in the 1980’s from Weeping Water, Nebraska. He was a veteran of the Korean War, and served as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Stephen was a former commander of the American Legion and a previous member of Wally Byum Air Stream International.
Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife, Beatrice Van Amburg, of Melbourne, FL; children, Jackie and Alan Bauers of Weeping Water, NE, David Bennett of Kansas, Jill and Odin Langford of Spokane, WA, William D. and Beverly Van Amburg of Tempe, AZ, Craig and Beverly Van Amburg of Fairbanks, AL, Bruce Van Amburg of Richmond, VA; daughter-in-law, Renee Sheenan of Weeping Water, NE; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Carol in 2005.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 27, 2014 at Peace Lutheran Church, 1801 Port Malabar Blvd. NE, Palm Bay, FL 32905. Life Event Center at Florida Memorial is entrusted with arrangements.
