

Sue, as she was affectionately known, was a nurse, professor, and lifelong adventurer. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, Sue was the eldest of six children born to Beverly and Calvin Warren. From an early age, Sue's thirst for knowledge and her caring nature shone through. She met the love of her life, Alice Shander, and together they shared a deep and loving partnership for over 50 years.
Throughout her career, Sue made significant contributions to the field of nursing and nursing education. She was a respected professor, teaching informatics at Fairleigh Dickinson University and Downstate University, a role she deeply cherished. Sue's dedication to her students and her passion for her work were unparalleled. She received her doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin, a testament to her academic excellence.
Sue's easy-going personality, strong work ethic, and unwavering devotion to her family and loved ones were the hallmarks of her life. She and Alice shared a boundless love for travel, exploring the great outdoors in their RV and visiting national parks across the country. Sue's hobbies included stamp collecting, baking her famous sugar cookies and Thanksgiving stuffing, and hosting delicious lobster dinners when she and Ali lived in New York.
Sue’s smile, warm embrace, and unwavering spirit will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Though she may be gone, her legacy will live on through the lives she touched and the memories she created.
A funeral service to celebrate Sue's life will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 11AM, at The Life Event Center at Florida Memorial Gardens (5950 S US-1, Rockledge, FL 32955).
