Suzanna E. Cockheyt

She was predeceased by her husband, Al, in 2003. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage. They were together in the Nazi forced labor camps for four years and immigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in 1952. They transferred to St. Albans, WV in 1962. She was an office administrator for International Filler and together they owned and operated C&G Trucking Company. They retired to Melbourne Beach in 1982, living at Outdoor Resorts and South Oaks in West Melbourne. Sue moved into the home of daughter and Jim in 2016.

She was predeceased by her 6 siblings: Leona, Clara, Camiel, Albert (Elizabeth), Mady (Kamiel) in Belgium and Adolf (Shirley) in Canada; nephew, Roger(Antoinette) in Belgium and dear friends Andy(Sally) in Canada.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Deb (Jim), 4 grandchildren, Shea (Brett), Allyson (Erik), Brett (Crissy) and Robert and 7 great-grandchildren Remy, Brogan, Fynleigh, Dillin, Mitch, Kierston and Abby. She is lovingly remembered by her niece, Donna (Greg) and 3 children (Brandon, Zachary, Mackenzie- Canada; her nephew, Eric (Andrea)-Belgium, and dear friends Ray(Helen) and son (Dan)-Canada; Adolf (Simonne), Dan (Lieve) and 2 children (Celine, Cedric) – Belgium; Sherry(Alex) and son(Grayson).

Our beloved Sue (known to family as Bobonne) has passed on a legacies to all us. She taught us family first, compassion to all, hard work, survivorship and plenty of Belgian dishes. Everyone’s favorite is the Flemish Stoverij (beef stew) with frites (french fries) and red cabbage.

Very special thanks to Sue’s early caregiver CJ Ahrens and caregivers over the past 2 years: Hospice of HealthFirst staff and volunteers and especially home caregiver, Cathy Paxos-Rivera for her devoted and loving care.

A memorial service will be held at Hope Episcopal Church, 190 Interlachen Road, Melbourne at 11:00 am Saturday, March 9, 2019. Interment will be at a later date.
