Terrie, a long time Melbourne resident, was born in Richmond, Indiana to the late George and Betty Schooley. She was the big sister to six brothers, Jerry, Gary, Larry, Barry, and twins Perry and Kerry. Preceding their sister in death are Jerry, Gary, Barry, and Larry. She is survived by her daughters Brenda Grassman Scheel of Fort Myers FL, and Becke Grassman Parkhurst (Michael) of Melbourne, FL, and four grandchildren, Taylor, Grace, Benjamin and Katy.
A graduate of Eau Gallie High School, and the University of Central Florida, Terrie served as a Special Education Teacher, caring and nurturing children with Autism at the Devereux Center and for Brevard County Public Schools.
Her volunteer services included American Red Cross Gray Lady at Creel Elementary School clinic, director of Vacation Bible School, Sunday School Teacher, and participant in mission trips at Eau Gallie First Baptist Church and Sherwood Park Baptist Church. She enjoyed times with friends on sunrise walks on the beach to collect beach glass and seashells. For hobbies, Terrie was an excellent seamstress, craftswoman, and a marvel with a hot glue gun.
Terrie was a shining example to all by being strong in her faith and trust in God throughout life’s challenges. She was a beautiful, constantly smiling, loving woman with a kind heart who unselfishly served others. Her love for Jesus shone through every part of her life. Even after her death, Terrie will continue to give to others, as she was a donor to the Florida Brain Bank, contributing to Alzheimer’s Disease research.
The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the staff at Southland Suites Assisted Living Facility, West Melbourne Health and Rehabilitation Center, and Vitas Hospice for their compassionate care.
Terrie’s family will receive guests at Life Event Center at Florida Memorial Gardens, Rockledge, Florida on December 12th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a Celebration of Life beginning at 11:00 AM.
Burial will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens.
