Thomas H. Burt, Major US Army, Ret., 83, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2010 peacefully at his residence surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Detroit, MI on December 27, 1926. Tom was raised in Columbus, GA and graduated from Columbus High School he went on to graduate from West Point. After retirement from the Army, Tom taught at Florida Air Academy and Brevard County Schools. One of his favorite hobbies was sailing with frequent trips to the Bahamas. He is survived by his son, Thomas R. H. Burt and his wife, Candace; and his daughter, Dorothy Anne Burt; loving friends, Anita and Chris Jackson. Tom was preceded in death by his son, James Harden Burt. There will be a memorial service held at 2 pm on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Florida Memorial Funeral Home.
