

Vernon R Jackson of Cocoa, FL passed away at Cape Canaveral Hospital on February 28 at the age of 87. Vernon will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ruth. Caring father to Dennis, Lisa (Larry) and dear stepfather to Lori (Geoff) and Bruce. He is a much loved PaPaw to Heath, Heather, Tyler, Daniel, Ashley, Sylvia Darian who all enjoyed many happy memories with their PaPaw. He is also a beloved Great Grand PaPaw to Aubrey, Brea, Adylynn, Ryland, Aiden, Wyatt, and Rhiannon.
He also leaves behind one brother, Roger Hodge.
Vernon is predeceased by his parents Pauline E Hodge and Woodrow Jackson and a brother, John.
Vernon was born in Hugheston, WV and lived in Florida for over 40 years.
As a young man, Vernon worked in West Virginia in the coal mines. After moving to Florida, he was a delivery driver until his retirement.
In retirement, Vernon enjoyed woodworking in his backyard workshop. He built numerous furniture pieces for he and Ruth's home along with creative pieces for family and friends. He enjoyed watching college football on saturdays with a special love for the West Virginia Mountaineers. For family events, Vernon was famous for his hot dogs with chili, and baking delicious cakes and pies. He and Ruth enjoyed many amazing travel adventures and cruises. In his final years he was an avid puzzle enthusiast and completed dozens of them.
