

She was born in Tipton County, Indiana and came to Brevard County in 1957. She was a Science Teacher and School Counselor for over 20 years in Rockledge and Cocoa. She took an early retirement from teaching and went to Haiti to develop Good Shepherd Ministries, a ministry that focused on Christian education for youth. She had a part of educating over 40,000 children in her 20 plus years of teaching.
She received her AB Degree from Indiana Weslyan University and her MS from the University of Tennessee. She was an active member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Merritt Island.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Norman Dixon, her son; Mark Dixon, her granddaughter; Ronda Tait Vogel, and her great granddaughter; Ashlynn Crossen.
Survivors include her brother, John Ward of Arcadia, IN; daughters; Norma Jean Burch (John) of Grand Ridge, FL., Judi Quigley (Pat) of Georgia, and Roberta Harnois (Ronnie) of Palatka, FL., grandchildren; April Ready Vincent, Mark Ready, Vickie Harnois Boyett (Dennis), Christopher Harnois, James Harnois (Gloria), great-grandchildren; Vanessa Vogel Pando (Brad), Victoria Jean Vogel Sherrod (Josh), Kyle Vogel, Richard Gary Gable III, Tanner Boyett, Emily Harnois, Steven Harnois, and Sabrina Harnois. She also leaves three great- great grandchildren; Laila Sherrod, Ryan Sherrod, and Madison Pando, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at The Life Event Center at Florida Memorial 5950 US HWY 1, Rockledge, FL 32955 on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 6-8PM. A funeral Service will be on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 11AM at the funeral home with interment to follow in Florida Memorial Gardens.
