Willis Murl Johnson, 79, died Thursday, June 16, 2011. "Murl" as he was known to most, was born in Ariton, Alabama. He served in the Air Force for four years, where he trained as a radio operator. From there, he landed a job "down range" in Antigua. He eventually made his way to Titusville, where he settled down and went to work at the Cape as Communications Controller for RCA. He retired from this position in 1995. He was an avid golfer in years past and spent many days on the course at Sherwood Country Club. Murl was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Trina Dunkel of Melbourne, FL; two granddaughters, Marisa and Rianna Dunkel; two sisters, Johnnie Peters and Inez Thomas, both of Davenport, FL; and a brother, Preston Johnson of Bartow, FL. He was preceded in death by the wife he loved and adored, Delores, in 2004, and by his beautiful daughter, Terri, in 1994. Murl was a selfless man who devoted his life to caring for his family, the great joy of his life. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 11:00 am at Florida Memorial Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens.
