Yoko Saito Lundy, age 92, of Wichita, Kansas died peacefully on February 16, 2020 at the home of her son in Satellite Beach, Florida. She was born on January 5, 1928 in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, Japan. She is preceded in death by her parents Yoshiharu and Kie Saito of Japan, daughter, Emiko (Amy) Lundy Guile of El Paso, Texas, her husband, Donald McKenzie Lundy of Wichita Kansas, her brothers Masato and Hiromasa Saito and sister Junko Saito Hayakawa of Japan.
Yoko emigrated from Japan with her husband and three children in 1963, first to California and then to Wichita, Kansas, where for over 50 years she lived, worked, made many friends, and raised a beautiful family. A retired housekeeper, Yoko spent her entire life in selfless service to others. She was a small, but mighty woman of boundless energy, who will be remembered for her strength and perseverance, but most of all for her beautiful smile, her huge, loving, and generous heart. She was a fabulous cook of all things Japanese, but as evidenced by her delicious and anxiously awaited Thanksgiving feasts, she also easily mastered American culinary cuisine. Yoko was a great fan of Korean soap operas and sumo wrestling. She especially loved and spoke so fondly of the time spent with her dear and special lady friends in Wichita and Derby, Kansas. In her later years, she relocated to Satellite Beach, Florida. She was quickly embraced and loved by all who came to know her, and for as long as she was able filled her days with exercise, Zumba, Tai Chi, puzzles, origami, and arts and crafts.
Survivors include two children, Michael Lundy (Leigh Dickens) of Satellite Beach, and Loretta Lundy of Wichita, Kansas, her sisters Masako Saito Miyacoshi, Machiko Saito Takahama, and Kachiko Saito Hori of Japan, and her son-in-law Bradley Guile (Susan) of El Paso, Texas. She is also survived by her five grandchildren for whom she had great love and pride: Army Specialist Lisa Caitlin Guile of Fort Sam Houston, Texas, Megan Midori Reuther Glanville (Jake) of Derby, Kansas, Quentin Harley Reuther of Wichita, Kansas, Jaden McKenzie Lundy of Satellite Beach, Florida and Liam Michael Lundy of Satellite Beach, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews residing across the United States and Canada, and in Japan.
The remembrance service will be held at 2:00 pm on April 17, 2020 at The Well Worship Center, 421 N. Westview Drive, Derby, Kansas. Inurnment will be at Kechi Cemetery Park in Kechi, Kansas.
