
Of Owings Mill, MD, formerly of Las Vegas, NV and Garrett Park, MD passed suddenly on August 26, 2011. She had recently moved back to MD after the death of her husband Phil last year. Shirley and Phil were married for 56 years. She was born November 12, 1934 in Washington, DC, and spent most of her life in the DC area working for the federal government. They raised five kids and after all were grown, they moved to Las Vegas. Shirley embraced playing cards and Bingo. It is believed that this was her way of replacing the weekly Mah Jong game she left behind. She was loved by all and will be missed by many.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband Phil, and her sister Sandra (Ferber) Belkov, and leaves behind daughters and sons Marlene (Jerry) Deaton, Michael (Lynn) Weiner, Mark (Florence) Weiner, Mitchell (Frederica) Weiner, Marcia (Erik) Cohen; brother Martin (Sharyn) Ferber; and grandchildren Dara Deaton, Erica and Alex Weiner, Benjamin Weiner, Danielle and Samantha Weiner, and Rachel, Lauren and Sydney Cohen. Shirley also leaves many loving in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Services will be held Thursday September 1, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Danzansky-Goldberg Memorial Chapels, 1170 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD followed by burial at Judean Memorial Gardens. The family will hold Shiva through Sunday at noon at the home of Mitchell and Frederica Weiner, 2006 Carter Mill Way, Brookeville, MD 20833. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley's memory to The National Federation of the Blind, American Heart Association or Vital Life Foundation, www.vitallifefoundation.org.
