Shirley V. Weinstein

On Sunday, March 18, 2012, SHIRLEY SHAPIRO WEINSTEIN (nee Weisfeld) of Deerfield Beach, FL. Born in Washington, DC, previously of Brooklyn, NY, Ocean City, MD and Silver Spring, MD. Beloved wife of the late Morton Weinstein after 50 wonderful years of marriage. Adored mother of Tina (Rick) Cohen of Columbia, MD. Grandmother of Ryan Cohen of Ellicott City, MD. Sister of Donald (Cheryl) Weisfeld and the late William (Linda Deidel) Shapiro. Shirley leaves many loving nieces, nephews as well as dear friends everywhere she lived. She received her nursing degree in New York in 1946, but worked for a short time after her marriage. Her engaging smile, zest for life and generosity with her time, caring, and love gathered her many wonderful friends. She was never idle, but always helping Mort with the business or doing volunteer work at Tina's schools, political elections all the way to the end helping with the Chamber of Commerce in Deerfield Beach, FL where she made many dear friends. Funeral services will be held at the United Hebrew Cemetery, 3901 Hope Blvd., Halethorpe, MD on Thursday, March 22 at 3:30 p.m. The family will receive friends immediately following the interment at the home of Tina and Rick Cohen. Minyan services beginning at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice by the Sea, Boca Raton, FL or the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
