

Jasper William Rhodes, III, age 65 passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014. He was born on September 28, 1949 in Nash County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor Rhodes Howell and Jasper (Jack) W. Rhodes, Jr. He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Sylvia P. Rhodes, his children, Amy and Charlie Beavers, Sara and Daniel Eskew, and Chellie R. Harrison; his grandchildren, Jonathan and Tarra Beavers; his brothers, John Bowes, Allen Rhodes, and Joe Rhodes; and his sisters, Margie Snow, Brenda Rhodes, and Penny Rhodes. He had many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and 2 very special friends, Julian Carter and Chris Cooper. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church and worked for Barnes Transportation. He was a truck driver for over 40 years. He always seemed to be "on the road again". He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family very much and made many sacrifices to support them and to make their lives better. He always told us he had more than he ever needed because he was married to the love of his life and his children were a constant part of each other's lives. Visitation will be held from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Johnson's Funeral Home on Friday, December 26, 2014. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. at Rocky Mount Memorial Park on Saturday, December 27, 2014. Flowers welcome or donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Association.
