Our loving and beautiful 87-year-old mother, Betty Jane Fielding Pollreis entered paradise on Saturday, October 26th, 2024. As we held her hands and sang her home, she felt the pain of this earth no more. She is now dancing in fields of flowers with the lover of her soul, Jesus. She is rejoicing with her mother Martha Zelda Brisco, father William Russell Brisco, her sisters Juanita & Marquita Battles, Peggy Joy Dill and Martha Marie Jaggar, her husband’s James Millard Fielding and Joseph Ronald Pollreis, her daughters Leanna Gayle and Tina Marie Fielding, her son Gamon Lee Fielding and her great-granddaughter Harper Bell Solberg along with many others for all of eternity.
Betty began her life on April 9th, 1937, in Altus Oklahoma. As the daughter of a cotton picker, she knew hard work but not without play. So many stories circulate of the incredible strength and perseverance it took to muster 87 years. She married James Millard Fielding of Rogers, very young and had five children. Through intense grief, she survived the loss of three of those children but in her true tough grit way she overcame. As this pain shaped her, it also became the platform for her lifelong friendship that was cemented through the grief walk of her & her best friend Twyla Moline. Twyla and Betty were like “Thelma and Louise”. There was no place too far and "no thing" that couldn't be done.
She worked hard all of her life from her first waitress job to building jet engine parts in secure areas at AirJet General in California. Then they came back to Arkansas with a dream. They bought a farm and so she began the arduous journey of the working wife, dedicated mother, and farmer all at once. She had a great career at Bear Brand followed by a career as a florist and owner of Gravette Flowers. All while being the partner and wife of Fielding Jewelers. And oh again, did I mention the FARM! She's one tough lady!
She was very civic-minded and worked with the mayor of Gravette to beautify our town, planting flowers throughout. She loved to sew, made gifts and treasures, and her children's clothes, and even made our baton uniforms for the Gravette Lions Marching Band!
After her husband James Millard Fielding passed from cancer some matchmaking took place and Ron called her to tell her that his wife had passed at almost the same time her husband had passed. Ron wanted to know if she would be interested in going out. She said, "No, I don't even know you!" So, he asked if she would at least go with him to coffee to get to know him. They then had 12 beautiful years together before she lost Ron as well.
Her love of family kept her door a revolving place for loved ones to come and be fed and nurtured. Family get-togethers were common things, and many took place in her yard where she planted and cared for her beautiful flowers. She created beauty wherever she went, including painting on canvas and blessing us all with her musical talents on the piano. She played for her church and family and created beautiful harmonies with her lovely voice.
With her love of giving back, she attended classes with her son Jim to become an EMT but recognized quickly that her fainting reaction to needles and blood would not serve her or her patients well.
She was the greatest friend and counselor to so many and often propped up her family & friends through the many passions and difficulties of life. The very last words she spoke were to tell her children she loved them. She will always be missed and never ever forgotten.
She is survived by her brother Kenneth Joe and wife Pauline Brisco of Tiff City, MO, sister Billie Gail Bradley of Rogers, AR, son James Millard Fielding II of Gravette, AR, daughter Kimberly A Fielding of Gravette, AR, Grandchildren Candace Lynette Williams of Rogers, AR, (Melvin), James Millard Fielding III (Heather) of Gravette, AR, Brandy Lee Gibson (Brian) of Pea Ridge, AR, Gamon Spencer Lowe (Beth) of Modesto, CA, Seth Brady Lowe of Gravette, AR, Emma Beth Eden Solberg (Tyler) of Gravette, AR, Jadon Mekeigh Winters of Gravette, AR, including Great & Great-great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
