Clay was such a charismatic, loving, thoughtful and silly guy. The loss is immense. He made everything feel special. One of the memories the keeps playing in my head was when he got his red stick-shift truck. Joe spent all afternoon and evening teaching him to drive it. He was finally ready for me to come watch him, so he took us around the neighborhood and kept stalling out. Every time the car stalled he would get so frustrated because, as you know, he was naturally good at everything he did. I couldn't help but laugh because even in his frustration he was making jokes and making me smile. 

It's hurts that we never got to say goodbye, but I am comforted knowing he is in heaven looking down on all of us that loved him.

The news of Clay's passing was shared at our Wednesday night Bible study. We are so sorry for your loss and pray for you as you work through the grief process. May the Lord fill you with His peace that guards our hearts and minds.

Joy and I are so deeply saddened by Clay's passing. Clay was very close to our family and one of Chase's best friends. Clay spent a lot of time at our home and we considered him one of our own.  Joe, Deana and kids, we share your grief and wish we could attend his memorial in person.  Know that we are thinking of your family and pray for your comfort. 

The last time I saw you, you came through the drive thru where I work, & ordered a “large water and a side of Chelsea Huston” at the speaker box. My entire store lost it 😂 you always wanted the aux cord when we were in my car, so you could pick the music. I usually gave in & now I’m so glad that I did, because you ended up showing me some of my favorite songs. I’ll be thinking of you every time I hear one 🖤 

I’ll never forget Clay. I’ll never forget when I met him I was in 6th grade and I had just moved here. He was the funniest, kindest boy I ever met. He would message me almost every night on AIM and we really just clicked. I can’t believe I had known him that long. We just had fun together.. there are so many memories. Festivals, concerts, long boarding, riding in his truck listening to all of our favorite songs, staying up late and just talking about life.. so many tears, laughs and love through all the years. I am so thankful that he was such a big part of my life for so long. I would not be who I am without him. I wish I could tell him that now. 

I am sincerely heartbroken for everyone who loved him. Deana, joe, his siblings and his girlfriend Nicki. I just know he is looking down on all the people that cared for him. 

Clay will always be remembered by our family hearing his name called tackle after tackle.  It was an honor for Joe to play football with him.  I’m so sorry for your short time on this earth.

I’ll never forget when our families met on vacation. You were just a young teen then, I’m pretty sure you still had your braces. And you were so funny. You always had such a clever and witty sense of humor. We stayed in touch on and off after that and it was always nice to talk to you. You always made me laugh. I still have something hilarious you said to me years ago saved in my Facebook quotes.

 I’ll never be able to pick up an Xbox controller without thinking of you every time. I’ll never forget the time you finally beat my team rumble fortnite record because you never let me forget it.  I will forever miss you watching drag race with me while complaining but secretly making comments about it and agreeing with me as I watched. The first thing you said after coming out of your back surgery was a drag race quote. Your going to hate me for saying that but I can’t stop laughing “who’s Morris???”  But I know you only said it to make me laugh because you saw how fearful I was for you and that’s how much love you had in your heart even during your pain. You are the strongest person I have ever met please help me be just as strong. Your love was unconditional even until the end no matter how bad your were feeling you always asked how my day was and what you could do to make it better every single day. You are my heart and soul and I will carry you with me everyday. I chose this photo because of your love hate relationship with my hair hahah and when we took this my hair was obviously in the way, you would always tell me “baby I love your hair and it’s beautiful but why do I find it everywhere?!?!” I never knew how much I could care for someone until I met you. I love you baby forever and always. 

The Tiger Family is thinking and praying for the family.   Clay provided many highlights for Tiger fans during his time at BHS.   He will be missed, but not forgotten.

Joe and Deana,

I am so sorry to hear of Clay's passing.  He was such a sweet, gentle little boy.  I will always remember him as being such a cute little squirt from Sunday School class.  My deepest condolences to you and your family.
