Gene Van Houden, 58, passed away on January 28, 2018 in Bentonville. He was born on April 21, 1959 to the late Clyde and Eula (Marshall) Van Houden in Denver, Colorado. He was the loving husband of Angela (Chaple) Van Houden for 34 years.
He graduated from Rogers High in 1977 and joined the 82nd Airborne right after high school. Gene enjoyed playing golf, camping and fishing with his nephews and nieces.
Gene is survived by his wife of Rogers; sister, Marsha Welles (Bill) of Lowell; in-laws, Harry and Pat Chaple of Huntsville; nephew, Brendon Coffman of Rogers; nieces, Chelsea (Zach) Skaggs of Gentry, Cortnie (Clayton) Cunningham of Ft. Smith, and Michal Chaple of Bella Vista; great-nieces, Teagan and Berkley.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 5 until 7pm in Rollins Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral will be on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 10am in Rollins Chapel with burial to follow at 12pm Fayetteville National Cemetery.
