Joan Carmichael Webb, age 94, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 3, 1931, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late William and Frances Ellison.
In 1953, Joan and her beloved husband, Bud Carmichael, made Bentonville their home after moving from Oklahoma. The couple shared 47 wonderful years of marriage and raised three children together, forming a close-knit and loving family. Joan’s devotion to her family was unwavering, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
A true entrepreneur, Joan owned and operated a beauty shop in downtown Bentonville during her early years. She was a dynamic and dedicated leader, serving as president of the Business and Professional Women’s Foundation, Epsilon Alpha Sigma, and the Elks Lodge #2144 in Rogers. Her faith was also an important part of her life, and she was a devoted member of First Christian Church of Rogers.
After Bud’s passing in 1994, Joan found love again and later married Olen Webb.
Joan will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, spontaneity, and zest for life. She had an adventurous soul—ziplining, parasailing, and soaring in hot air balloons were just a few of the thrilling experiences she embraced. She and her husband traveled extensively across the U.S. in their motor home, enjoying camping, fishing, and especially time by the beach.
Known for her elegance and grace, Joan was always impeccably dressed and carried herself with timeless class. She loved dancing, music, and was often the life of the party. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing Bridge, painting, and cheering on the Razorbacks.
Above all, Joan’s greatest joy came from being with her family and loved ones. Her warmth, strength, and joyful presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
Joan was preceded in death by her husbands, Bud Carmichael and Olen Webb; her parents, William and Frances Ellison; her brother, Billy Ellison; her son-in-law, Lindell Mabry; and her daughter-in-law, Connie Carmichael.
She is lovingly survived by her children: Buddy Carmichael (Dianne) of TN, Sheryl Mabry, and Pam Simpson (Joe Fletcher) of NWA. Joan’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Todd Carmichael, Tammy Santibanez (Manny), Megan Jackson (Jeremy), Michelle Verser (Jason), Russlyn Simmering (Justin), Ashley Camplain (Brent), and Nichole Stevens (Nate). She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy, as well as three stepchildren.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Joan’s dear friends at Pinnacle Grove for their unwavering love, kindness, and support over the past year.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29th, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Rollins Funeral Home, with a funeral service immediately following at 2:00 PM. Joan will be laid to rest at Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers.
