

He served his country in the US Army in the European Theatre during World War II, served his community as member and president of the Adrian, Minnesota school board, was a Past Commander of the Lismore, Minnesota American Legion and was a lifelong Presbyterian who served as an Elder in his church. He loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals, bowling, golfing and playing pool. Prior to his retirement from farming and moving to Northwest Arkansas in 1980, he was named Minnesota State Farmer of the year.
For more than 73 years, he was the loving husband of Marilyn Rust, who survives. Other survivors include his 4 sons, Steve Rust and wife Suzanne of Farmington, Randy Rust and wife Barbara of Berryville, Alan Rust of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Doug Rust and wife, Tina of Rogers; a daughter, Christine Morrison and husband Randy of Fayetteville; 2 sisters, Evelyn Hovland of Alexandria, Minnesota and Lois Nienkerk of Fairmont, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members and dear friends.
