Marilyn Joyce (Corbin) Mothershead, age 78, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away on November 30, 2025 at home. Marilyn was born on November 7, 1947, in Clarinda, Iowa, to Joy Thaine Corbin and Freda Lorine (Byrn) Corbin.
She grew up with a strong sense of purpose and accomplishment, graduating at the top of her class in May of 1966. Earlier in her school years, she received the Citizenship Cup at her 8th grade graduation—an early reflection of her character, kindness, and integrity.
In 1963, Marilyn met the love of her life, Dwight Mothershead, at a western-style square dance. They were married on August 7, 1966, at Oak Hill Church in Gravity, Iowa. After many years of farming in Gravity, they moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, in 1976, later purchasing their longtime home in Rogers in May of 1977. Marilyn began her professional career in Arkansas working for the President of Farmers & Merchants Bank. In 1984, she discovered her passion for real estate, beginning her journey with Jim Tucker, “The Land Man.” Later that same year, she joined Lindsey & Associates in Fayetteville, where she built a remarkable 32-year career devoted to serving families throughout Northwest Arkansas. She retired in 2016 at the age of 68.
In 2013, Marilyn and Dwight found a spiritual home with the Church of Christ in Garfield, Arkansas. Throughout their life together, Marilyn and Dwight were blessed with the extraordinary opportunity to travel the world—fulfilling a dream shared between them. They visited all seven continents and traveled to Europe more than 30 times, exploring countless countries and cultures. Their journeys also took them to South America several times; to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Tahiti, and Moorea in the South Pacific; and on many trips throughout the Caribbean. In January 2024, they embarked on a memorable voyage around Cape Horn in South America and continued on to Antarctica. Later that year, in September 2024, they traveled to Cape Town, South Africa, visiting several countries, exploring Kruger National Park, and witnessing the majesty of Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Among their most treasured memories were dog-sled rides and driving a reindeer-pulled sleigh in Finland; taking the “Train to the End of the World” in Ushuaia, Argentina; experiencing African safaris; feeding Jumbo, a five-ton elephant; seeing a rare white lion; and witnessing the breathtaking beauty of the Arctic Circle and Antarctica.
These travels enriched Marilyn’s life and created memories she and Dwight cherished deeply. Marilyn will be remembered for her warmth, her unwavering work ethic, her compassionate spirit, and her love for family, friends, clients, and community. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 3rd at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers, Arkansas from 4:00-5:00PM, with funeral service immediately to follow at 5:00PM.
Another visitation will be held on Friday, December 5th at Cummings Funeral Home in Bedford, Iowa from 1:00-2:00PM, with funeral service immediately to follow at 2:00PM. Marilyn will be laid to rest at Washington Cemetery in Gravity, Iowa.
