Ray G. Cossey, age 62, of Rogers, went to rest with his Heavenly Father after a hard-fought battle with cancer on February 5, 2011. He was born in Marshall, Arkansas, on September 16, 1948, to Ida Mae (Blackwood) Schrand and the late Paul Ray Cossey.
Ray woke up each day, enjoying his profession of restoring furniture and antiques. He took much pride in his restorations, and listened to the desires of his clients. He never considered doing what he enjoyed as "work."
He enjoyed camping and fishing with his grandchildren, and loved every chance to spend time with his
family. He was a cherished husband, a loving father and grandfather, and friend to many. He was a man of few words, but the words he spoke were deliberate and important.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Joni (Cummins) Cossey, of the home; children, Sarah Lindsay and husband Gerald of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Tina Bowen and husband Derek of Scottsdale, Arizona; brothers, Paul Martin Cossey of Elm Springs, Steve Cossey of Greenland; sisters, Karen Ragland of Marshall, Shawna Herring of Memphis, Tennessee; and grandchildren Delaney, Samuel, Madison and Liam.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Ray Cossey; and a brother, James Cossey.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2011, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.
The family requests that memorials, in lieu of flowers, should be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Rd., Springdale, 72762.
Cremation arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers. Online condolences will be available to be made at www.rollinsfuneral.com.
