
Stanley E. Sobel Jr., 78, died February 27, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on September 24, 1933 in Shamokin, PA to the late Stanley E. Sr. and Helen Sobel. He was the loving husband of Barbara (Cross) Sobel for 52 years. He was greatly loved and will be missed.
Stan worked as an aeronautical engineer for Boing and NASA. He worked on NASA’s Apollo project and assisted in getting the first men, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Jr., and Michael Collins, on the moon.
He is survived by his wife; son, Bill Sobel of CA; brother, Fritz Sobel of PA; sisters, Betty Edmunds of MS and Jackie Fry of PA; two grandchildren, Elyssa and Robert Sobel of CA.
A memorial service will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Rogers on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 12:00. His burial will be at a later date. Cremation services are being arranged by Callison-Lough Funeral Home.
