Stuart was born on August 3, 1923 in New Orleans to Al and Maddie Sinclair. While attending Rice University, he and 11 of his buddies enlisted into the Navy. After his service in WWII, he completed his education and worked with Texas Oil. He married the love of his life, Betty Ballance on May 19, 1950 in Salem, Illinois. They eventually moved to Houston where he worked for Long Reach Machine Works as a design engineer.
Dewey (or Gummi) as he was known as by friends and family was an avid jogger/walker. He loved having projects in art and construction and having time with his grandchildren and great-grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Sinclair; his children, Diane Standefer of Rogers, Arkansas and Clinton Sinclair of Patoka, Illinois; grandchildren; Lantz Whitehead, Elin Ysasi, and David Whitehead of Austin, Texas, Shawn Standefer of Atlanta, Georgia, Peyton and Trang Standefer of Rogers, Arkansas, and Colin Standefer of Nashville, Tennessee; and great-grandson, Vincent Standefer of Rogers, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Susan Whitehead, and 4 siblings.
