Tennie Marie Lutz, 94, passed away on May 8, 2023. She was born on March 16, 1929 in Zephyr, Texas to the late Robert Owen and Jocie Ellen (Andrews) Greaves. She was the wife of the late Delbert Charles Lutz who passed in 2005. She was known by those when knew and loved her as Marie.
Marie loved to dance and spent many nights of her youth dancing with soldiers as a member of the USO. At this time, she started working as a waitress at the Texas Tech café, where she met her husband of 58 years.
Delbert and Marie would spend the rest of their lives working together. In 1956 they opened a wildly popular Drive-In diner that they owned until the historic F5 tornado hit Lubbock Texas. After the tornado, they moved to Rogers, AR where they continued to work together in a Walmart DC until they retired in the late 80s. The work didn’t stop for them after retirement. They continued to work in the garden and do arts and crafts together. These crafts were sold at the Bentonville Farmers market for many years to come. Marie was especially talented at sewing and crocheting. She was known by many for her scrubbers, hats, aprons and potholders.
Marie was also a wonderful cook and baker. She had recipes in several cookbooks, her most popular items were her Thanksgiving Dressing and Mississippi Mud Cake.
In her later years she enjoyed attending church with her good friend and neighbor Becky.
