

Tom was born and raised in Tennessee, and he spent most of his life in Memphis. He was a member of the United States Air Force, and fought for our country in the Vietnam War. He and his wife, Lenda, were married for over 30 years and spent many happy years of marriage together. Tom was a college professor for over 25 years, and he educated thousands of students teaching computer technology at Southwest Tennessee Community College. In his spare time, he enjoyed tinkering with spare equipment, and he also enjoyed doing yardwork and being outside. He will be dearly missed by all of his family, friends, and loved ones.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, Elmer and Catherine Atkins; sister, Audrey Martinez; niece, Cathy Lanzier.
He is survived by: wife, Lenda Atkins of Memphis, TN; step-son, Michael J. Turk Jr. of Murfreesboro, TN; three grandsons; sister, Naomi Layton (George) of Sun City Center, FL; two nephews; brother in-law, John Smith (Sharon) of Bentonville; three nieces.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hot Springs, AR.
