Thomas “Tony” Anthony Berryhill, a true original and beloved “old hippie,” passed away at the age of 79. He was born on April 30, 1946, in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Ernest Jackson Berryhill and Audrey Mae Berryhill.
A lifelong resident of Arkansas, Tony worked as a Manager for Walmart Warehouse 6002 in Bentonville for many years. He later worked as a dispatcher supervisor for Cannon Express until his retirement. Tony spent eight years with his special friend, Erma Wise. Later in life, he met Nancy Tucker, and the two were married for almost twenty-five years.
A master of simple joys, Tony enjoyed carving unique walking sticks, riding horses, enjoying the open road on his motorcycle, and eating his insufferably spicy food (that nobody else would dare touch). In his younger years he was a radio DJ, and his love for rock and roll always remained. He loved to make other people laugh and tell tall tales. He always had a positive attitude and could easily lift the spirits of those around him. Tony leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and rock and roll. He will be dearly missed by those who had the honor of knowing him.
He is preceded in death by: parents, Ernest Jackson Berryhill and Audrey Mae Berryhill; and sister, Corrine Berryhill.
Tony is survived by: wife, Nancy Berryhill; special friend, Erma Wise; stepson, Chuck Pendergrass (Grace); stepdaughters, Brandi Roam (Brian), Destiny Navarro, Brodi and Brylee Roam, and Ashley King, Aaliyah Martinez, and Ashlynn King, sister, Connie McMillan; grandchildren, Tony Pendergrass, great-granddaughters, Phoenix Pendergrass and Caladria Pendergrass; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A Celebration of Life for Thomas is being planned and will be held at a later date.
