Alan David Black

He was born December 26, 1968 in Athens, GA and was the son of the late Mary “Janice” Rogers Black. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Ed Rogers and Hortense Rogers, and paternal grandparents Lloyd Black and Dorothy Black.

Alan was a member of Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church where he took part in various ministries within the church. He was also a member of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class and the Iron Men Group. He was an avid duck hunter and loved fishing as well. He was a member of the Oostanaula lodge 113 of Rome as Past Master and the Hands and Feet Ministry missionary work.

Mr. Black is survived by his wife Lori Staley Black to whom he was married for 16 years. Survivors also include one son; Christopher Alan Black, one daughter; Ashley Nicole Black, father; David Lloyd Black and step-mother; Sally Black.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday January 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church with Rev. Mac McCurry officiating. Interment will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday night January 21st at the church from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Those serving as pallbearers will be; Gil LeVerne, David Dellis, Martin Blackwelder, Adam Clemons, David White, Jon Caruvana, Nathan Medley, and Tony Carver and are asked to gather at the church no later than 10:30 a.m. Members of the Oostanaula Lodge are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers.
