A US Navy veteran, he saw action in Guadalcanal, Philippines, and Okinawa. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Knight Latimer, daughter and son-in-law Joy and Gil Royal, son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Connie Latimer, grandchildren Julie Lowry, Cody and wife Brittany Latimer, Jason Latimer. Great-grandchildren Anna, Allison, and Allie.
A memorial service is planned for 3 PM on Saturday, November 5th, at Riverside Baptist Church, 48 Ash St., Rome, GA.
The Honor Guard from the Shanklin-Attaway Post No. 5 of the American Legion will provide military rites.
