

Dr. Wyatt was born February 7, 1921 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to the late James Bertram Collip and Ray Vivian Ralph Collip. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Collip McBride; a brother, Jack Collip; twin stillborn daughters in 1957 and a stillborn son in 1958.
She moved with her family to Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1928. She graduated from McGill University, Montreal in 1938then graduated from McGill Medical School in 1944. During Medical School she served in the Canadian Army Women’s Corp as a private. She served in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corp as a Captain from 1944 to 1945. She completed an internship in internal medicine at Royal Victoria Hospital from 1944 – 1945. During this time she met Dr. C.J. Wyatt from Rome, GA, while he also was completing his internship. The couple married in Montreal on May 23, 1946. She moved with her husband to Rome in 1947 and they began to raise their family. She became an American Citizen in 1950. In 1962 she took and passed the Georgia State Medical Board and became licensed to practice medicine in the United States. She began a specialty in Geriatric Medicine. She served as Medical Director for Valley View Nursing Home, Springwood Nursing Home and Brentwood Nursing Home until 1972. She served as Medical Director of Riverview Nursing Home and Fifth Avenue Nursing Home until 1986. After retiring from practicing medicine, she served on the Long-term Care Specialty Panel of the Georgia Healthcare Foundation. In this role she performed licensure surveys of nursing homes throughout the state of Georgia.
She was a member of the Floyd-Polk-Chattooga Medical Society, the Medical Association of Georgia, the Georgia Heart Association, and the American Association of Geriatrics. She was an active and beloved member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Rome.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Robert Wyatt and his wife Deede, of Memphis, TN., Jack Wyatt and his wife Carlin, of Rome, James Wyatt and his wife Crystal of Jacksonville, AL, Joy Jones of Rome, and Margaret Duke of Rome, grandchildren, Jessica Wyatt, Laura Wyatt, Claire Wyatt, Rob Wyatt, Charlie Wyatt, Meah Honeycutt, Monica Jones, Karen Keplinger, Graham Duke, and Aaron Duke. 11 great grandchildren and 9 nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday December 27, 2017 at 2:00 PM at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
