

Mrs. Edna Davis Barron passed away at the age of 93 at the residence of her son Bill (Phyllis) Barron of Rome, Georgia on Thursday, June 29. Mrs. Barron was born January 15, 1924 in Floyd County to Raymond King Davis and Josie Russell Davis. She lived most of her adult life on the family farm that they purchased in 1955, known as Barron Dairy Farm, in Floyd County. Mrs. Barron was a graduate of Model High School.
Mrs. Barron's legacy is that of a farmer's wife who embraced her role as homemaker to keep the family ties strong and traditions alive. She taught her children their core family beliefs and values. She was a rock of support in good times and bad. She was someone who aided in nurturing their land, family, neighbors, friends, and community. She was a long time member of North Broad Baptist Church where she was active in her Sunday School Class and graciously served on the Bereavement Committee.
Edna Barron was married to Hoyt Edwin Barron on December 20, 1941 and they spent 75 loving years together prior to his death on February 12, 2017, she was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Davis; and sister, Doris Davis.
She is survived by 2 sons: Bill (Phyllis) Barron of Rome GA and Tommy (Laura) Barron of Roswell GA; a daughter Linda (Tim) Evans of Grayson GA; 6 Grandchildren: Lisa Barron, Hickory NC; Todd (Amanda) Evans, Johns Creek GA; Scott (Ashley) Evans, Atlanta GA; Billy Barron, Atlanta GA; Blair Barron, Roswell GA; John Barron, Roswell GA; 5 great-grandchildren: Kate, Glenn and Mark Evans of Johns Creek GA; Pace and Claire Evans, Atlanta GA; Brothers: Bob Davis, Rome GA; Glenn (Cathy) Davis, Austell GA; Sister-In-Law Mrs. Luese Davis, Mt Pleasant SC; a number of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the devoted personal and professional care she received from Caregiver Services of GA and the staff of Heyman Hospice Care of Floyd.
The family received friends on Saturday, July 8, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. at Daniel's Funeral Home. The funeral service followed at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Funeral Home with Rev. Priscilla Tunnell and Rev. Horace Stewart officiating. Burial was at Eastview Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Mrs. Barron's grandchildren: Lisa Barron, Todd Evans, Scott Evans, Billy Barron, Blair Barron, and John Barron.
